It has been announced that a new luxury hotel will be established in Sapporo's Odori district. The hotel will be part of a redevelopment project located directly in front of Odori Park, along Ekimae-dori Avenue. The hotel brand chosen for this prestigious location has been confirmed as "Park Hyatt."

This redevelopment project involves the reconstruction of the Doshin Building and the Shin Odori Building, both situated in the Odori Nishi 4-chome area. It was previously anticipated that the upper floors of the new building would house a world-class hotel, and now it has been revealed that the brand will be "Park Hyatt," one of the most luxurious brands within the Hyatt Group, which operates over 1,350 hotels in 78 countries.

This will be the fourth "Park Hyatt" in Japan, following Tokyo, Kyoto, and Niseko. The Hyatt Group has expressed confidence in Sapporo's strong potential for growth and looks forward to contributing to the city's continued development.

Park Hyatt Sapporo will feature 157 guest rooms, along with restaurants, a spa, and a pool, all of which will be accessible to both hotel guests and the general public. The group is eager to elevate the luxury experience in Sapporo to new heights.

Sapporo has long faced a shortage of luxury hotels catering to affluent guests, but recent redevelopment projects are changing that, with more high-end hotels planned for the city center.

In addition to the Park Hyatt facing Odori Park, a 19-story building will be constructed on the former site of Pivot, towards the Susukino area. This building will house "TRUNK," a luxury boutique hotel making its debut in Hokkaido.

Moreover, a new building is scheduled for completion in the 2023 fiscal year in Chuo-ku, Kita 5-jo Nishi 1-chome, adjacent to Sapporo Station. This building will feature a hotel operated by Marriott International, the world’s largest hotel chain. Another notable development is the 14-story mixed-use facility "Lilac Square" near Nakajima Park, which will include the luxury hotel "InterContinental Sapporo," set to open in October next year.

The Mayor of Sapporo also commented, expressing his hopes that Sapporo will continue to evolve into a more international city, loved by people from all over the world. With the construction of these luxury hotels, the landscape of central Sapporo is rapidly transforming.
